Employee-Owned Motz Corporation Continues its Commitment to Internal Advancement with Promotion of Cindy Batchler

The Motz Corporation, global provider of innovative turf solutions, has announced the promotion of Cindy Batchler to Director of Human Resources.  Cindy was previously HR Manager and joined the company in 2016.

Founded in 1977 by Joe Motz, the Cincinnati-based Motz Corporation is a 100% employee-owned company with more than 88 year-round personnel who share in the profits as an ESOP corporation (Employee Stock Ownership Plan).  The company takes pride in its dedication to long-term career support for all its professionals and in fostering a team atmosphere, qualities that were recognized in 2018 by Forbes’ “Small Giants” list for “purpose-driven companies and their leaders who prioritize their people and don’t sacrifice their culture for fast, massive growth”

“At Motz, HR isn’t something we do, it’s a core element of our strategy – People First,” said Valerie Webster, Chief Strategy Officer.  “Cindy has continually developed new and different ideas,  demonstrating her leadership and commitment to attract and retain some of the best and brightest talent.  We are excited about her new role and her continued commitment to people and leadership which will help us continue to be a sought out employer of choice,” Valerie added.

In her four years with the Motz Corporation, Cindy has been a key driver in implementing some groundbreaking improvements to the company’s HR department such as enhancing its benefit structure and offerings while managing costs, which have helped to solidify the cultural cohesion throughout all levels of the organization. She spurred the HR department’s evolution to a paperless environment through technological tools which not only save labor time but have proven to be especially beneficial in the COVID-19 pandemic and the company’s diverse, remote workforce.  As a firm that works within construction seasons, Cindy has been instrumental in streamlining and rapidly scaling the firm’s yearly cycle of 30-40% employee expansion.  This has enabled Motz to shift its focus more on retention and career mentoring rather than recruiting.

“I’m excited about continuing the organization’s evolution in processes and procedures that support an expanding business while providing employees with a satisfying work-life balance,” said Cindy Batchler, Director of HR.  “Covid has impacted everyone to varying degrees, so I view this challenge as an unexpected opportunity for discovering new ways of working, learning and growing.”
