The Motz Group Selected to Build Four Synthetic Turf Sports Fields in 2020 & 2021 for West Virginia’s Raleigh County Schools

Raleigh County Schools, the fifth largest school district in West Virginia, has made the decision to convert their four high school athletic fields to synthetic turf with the help of sports field construction experts, The Motz Group. The new artificial fields, which will be located at Independence, Liberty, Shady Spring, and Woodrow Wilson, will collectively serve all nine schools in the district, as well as provide the community with a space for activities by being open to the public. Raleigh County’s goal with these projects – in true trailblazer fashion – is to equip their student athletes and surface users with a safer, more consistent playing surface, while also reducing maintenance and upkeep – all priorities that Motz shares.

Raleigh County made the choice to work with The Motz Group for their synthetic turf field installations in early 2020, and selected the Twenty-Four/Seven Synthetic Turf System. Perfect for multi-use or all-purpose surface, Twenty-Four/Seven is a workhorse system that allows for back-to-back play, which is an important factor for Raleigh County. Two fields, Independence and Woodrow Wilson, will be completed by the fall of 2020, with the other two following in 2021.

Raleigh County selected Motz because of our collaborative approach, reputation, and locality. Motz is also an approved vendor on multiple cooperative purchasing programs, which allowed Raleigh County to not put the project out to bid but receive a competitive price for the fields. Raleigh County Schools is one of the latest to join the Motz roster which includes over 500+ sports fields both regionally, nationally, and even worldwide.

After looking at The Motz Group, we felt like they were a great fit for our community to come in and be able to do what we are wanting to accomplish. Not only do we look for that great relationship as far as being able to share our vision but the attention they pay to detail, their knowledge and their history of doing the work as well.

– David Price, Superintendent of Raleigh County Schools
