American Sports Builders Association Announces Allen Verdin as Secretary and Treasurer of the Board

The Motz Group’s Director of Project Management, Allen Verdin, was announced as Secretary and Treasurer of the board of the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA). Allen has served as a member of ASBA since 2012. Allen Verdin’s new position as Secretary and Treasurer of the board is an exciting opportunity to expand his contribution to the organization and the industry. Motz is proud to have Allen on their team and as a representative of Motz as an ASBA Board Member.

American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) promotes the highest standards in design, construction, and maintenance. ASBA is a non-profit trade association comprised of builders, designers, and suppliers for sports facilities. The members of ASBA improve sports facility construction and maintenance, promote the interests of builders of sports facilities based on construction type, lead the development of current and accurate technical information in the sports field construction industry, and offer an awards program of excellence to design, construction and renovation for sports projects. The organization also provides educational resources and informational guides to help consumers make well-informed decisions on sports field projects.

Allen has served on various committees at ASBA since 2012. He assisted with the manual called The Sports Fields in Construction and Maintenance Manual, which is rewritten every three years. This book provides field guidelines and is a helpful resource within the industry. He also assisted with the content for an educational video called ASBA Fundamentals of Sports Field Construction. Allen also has spoken at various events about the projects he has managed such as how the Motz AirPAT rootzone warming and vacuum ventilation system was used in the Atlanta Braves field construction in 2017. He also spoke at the 2022 Sports Field Management Association (SFMA) on behalf of ASBA about the start and finish of the design and build of a sports field from the grounds manager’s point of view.

Allen has worked as an employee-owner at the Motz for 10 years. Allen began his career in the industry managing drainage and base construction projects. He has run multiple professional-grade construction projects, such as Atlanta Braves Truist Park, Baltimore Ravens M&T Bank Stadium, and the Indianapolis Colts Lucas Oil Stadium. He is a graduate of the FMI Project Manager Academy and has OHSA 30-hour Construction Industry Outreach Training. Allen is also an ASBA Certified Field Builder. His expertise and management skills are how Motz is able to stay on time, achieve client expectations, and support the construction team throughout the project. His achievement in his new position at ASBA is a reflection of his work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to manage high-profile projects and crew members.
Allen says, “ASBA and Motz are both committed to applying the highest standards to sports field construction. I’m looking forward to applying my 20+ years of construction experience to the organization and working together with other like-minded individuals as they commit to moving the industry forward.
