5 Things to Consider When Shipping Your Artificial Turf Materials

When running your business, the last thing you want to worry about is getting your orders delivered on time. Luckily, Motz has an in-house team of operations and logistics experts to seamlessly deliver your Envirofill and pad orders.

Five Things to considerations when ordering and scheduling your synthetic turf materials

#1 – Location, Location, Location

The delivery location for your synthetic turf materials can impact both travel time and cost. All trucks can deliver to a warehouse dock, but if you are having your turf, pad, or Envirofill shipped directly to a project site, you may need a truck fitted with special equipment. Most freight companies charge additional fees if they will be delivering to a job site, school, or home because these types of deliveries take more time to unload.

It’s also important to consider the equipment that will be available on site to unload. If a full truckload of material is being delivered, the truck will not have any equipment to assist with unloading. This means there will need to be a pallet jack and/or forklift available to lift the pallets or turf rolls from the truck – unless you plan on doing this by hand! If you’re unsure what equipment you will need, be sure to ask ahead of time to avoid any surprise fees.

#2 – How Long Do I Have to Wait?

When you order something online, it’s at your door two days later. It should work the same way for your synthetic turf materials too, right?!

It can take a freight company up to three days to line up a truck to take your order from Point A to Point B. From there, it could be another one to five days on the road, depending on how far the truck must travel. Most truck drivers can average 500-600 miles travelled each day. To be safe, we recommend placing your order at least one week before you will actually need it (although Motz can usually delivery much sooner!). If you’re in a pinch, we can provide options to expedite shipments for a quicker delivery as well.

#3 – The Cheapest Option is Not Always the Best Option

It can be tempting to select the least expensive option for delivery. Afterall, getting your items delivered only adds to your cost. However, you can be putting your shipment at a higher risk for damages, service failures, or late deliveries when working with the wrong delivery company.

Motz has a thorough vetting process for selecting new freight partners and we have set high standards that must be met. Additionally, we regularly measure our freight partners in areas of communication, safety, and service to ensure that we are continually providing best-in-class service to our customers. We are proud to say that we have a 98%+ on-time delivery rate.

#4 – How to Save Money on Delivery

Making sure you are being as efficient as possible is the #1 way to reduce your shipping costs. Ordering a full truckload of Envirofill – instead of one or two pallets when needed – will always provide the lowest landed cost. However, we understand that isn’t always an option. The Motz operations team can provide different pricing options for your less-than-truckload (LTL) to make sure that you are shipping these orders in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

#5 – Logistics Expertise

Lastly, it’s important to consider the logistics expertise your team has. Attention to detail is very important when coordinating your delivery – one small detail missed could be hundreds of dollars in extra fees. Motz has over a decade of combined logistics experience within our operations team and we are always here to answer any questions you may have.
